Enhancing Responsiveness to GI Patient Needs at UC San Diego Health

This pilot project, supported by a grant from the Step Family Foundation, is led by the Division of Gastroenterology (GI) at UC San Diego Health. The project aims to improve GI patient care by optimizing workflows, staffing patterns, and informatics to address urgent patient needs more efficiently. This includes enhancing response times for GI symptoms and ensuring timely follow-up for procedures like colonoscopies, particularly after abnormal FIT results.

Problem Being Addressed: GI patients often experience delays in care, especially for urgent symptoms or follow-up tests like colonoscopies after abnormal FIT results. This project seeks to streamline care delivery, reduce wait times, and improve patient outcomes by leveraging EHR data and improving communication and triage processes.
