About the division

The UC San Diego Division of Primary Care Sports Medicine (PCSM) takes care of the needs of athletic individuals of all levels and ages. We are one of the oldest and most prestigious PCSM programs in the nation.

Our division encompasses 8 faculty physicians, many of whom are listed as San Diego's and Southern California's Top Docs. We engage in education, clinical research and medical care to patients, athletes, and teams of all levels. We are honored to serve as team physicians for the San Diego Padres, UC San Diego Intercollegiate and Club Athletics, San Diego Loyal, San Diego Seals, US Women's Soccer, US Figure Skating as well as numerous regional High Schools.

As part of our educational mission, we train up to 5 sports medicine fellows per year and have more program graduates than any other program in the nation. Our sports medicine didactic program trains over 15 sports medicine fellows each year and includes community partners in San Diego and Riverside counties as well as the US Navy.

We also provide sports medicine services to our community at events such as the Rock N Roll Marathon and The California State Games. We are proud to provide sports medicine training and services to our community and military partners.

UC San Diego is noted for being a top research institution and the division of PCSM furthers this tradition by providing the best education and clinical care utilizing Sports Ultrasound to perform a variety of cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to our patients.
