UC San Diego Family Residency Program Application Process

We are delighted in your interest in applying for the UC San Diego Family Medicine Residency Program. We currently offer eight categorical positions. All positions are matched through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).

How to Apply

To apply, please complete your application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Applications are reviewed and invitations for interviews are granted on academic merit.

Deadlines

We begin interviews in November and go through January. The deadline to apply is November 1.

Requirements

We require a complete (ERAS) application, which includes the following:

  • ERAS Application 
  • Official Transcript 
  • Curriculum Vitae 
  • Personal statement 
  • Dean's letter 
  • Photo 
  • USMLE and/or COMLEX score
  • Three letters of recommendation from your medical school faculty or clinical supervisors

To be invited for interview, Graduates from Foreign Medical Schools will need to provide the following in additional documentation: 

  • ECFMG Certification 
  • Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter from the Medical Board of California
  • Permanent Resident Status or J-1 Visa

All applicants are required to have clinical experience within the last 3 years. Research experience may not be substituted.
