UC San Diego Medical Center - Hillcrest
UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center
Jacobs Medical Center at UC San Diego Health is a 245-bed advanced medical center that opened November 20th, 2016. Its medical services include advanced surgery, cancer care, cardiac rehabilitation, clinical trials, birthing options and more. Its striking architectural design is complemented by a 150-piece Healing Arts Collection. Residents rotate here as interns on the Labor and Delivery Service and in the NICU. Our Residents also enjoy inpatient experiences at Thornton Pavilion, an additional inpatient facility with 120 beds that is part of Jacobs Medical Center
UC San Diego La Jolla Clinic
The newest continuity location, the UC San Diego La Jolla clinic also houses our sports medicine fellows. Clinical services include care of acute problems, office procedures, and Sports medicine services to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints.
UC San Diego 4th and Lewis Clinic
4th & Lewis Clinic is about 6 blocks away from the Hillcrest hospital, an easy walk. The clinic provides care for large number of ethnically diverse patients who have complex medical problems. Faculty has a variety of interests: Pediatrics, Geriatrics; OB (one of them does C-sections), Dermatology and Practice Management.
UC San Diego Scripps Ranch Clinic
Scripps Ranch Clinic is located in northern San Diego approximately 20 minutes north of Hillcrest Hospital and 20 minutes east of Jacobs Medical Center. The clinic provides care ethnically diverse patients. The faculty has diverse interests including OB, Sports Medicine, Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Practice Management.
Rady Children's Hospital
Rady Children's Hospital and Health Center is a 219-bed facility serving the inpatient needs of the majority of the children of San Diego County. The state-of-the-art hospital is located about 10 minutes from the UCSD Medical Center and provides our residents with the opportunity to care for children with a variety of diseases with supervision provided by UCSD faculty and community pediatricians. In addition to Pediatric Wards, our residents also enjoy excellent rotations in the Pediatric Emergency Room and Urgent Care.
Veteran's Administration Hospital
The Veteran’s Administration Hospital is located in La Jolla directly adjacent to the UCSD School of Medicine. It is a large facility with about 800 beds. Faculty, residents and medical students of the UCSD School of Medicine staff the hospital and care for its patient population. Our residents do rotations in Medical Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine and Behavioral Health at the VA.
Naval Regional Medical Center (Balboa Naval Hospital)
The Naval Regional Medical Center (Balboa Naval Hospital) is the major Naval Medical Center for the Southwestern United States and the Pacific theater and one of the largest hospitals in the United States. Balboa Naval Hospital has nearly 1,500 beds, and is fully staffed with outstanding faculty. It is the teaching hospital with naval residencies in all disciplines of medicine. It is approximately four miles from the UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest and requires about 10 minutes travel time. Our residents enjoy excellent rotations in Newborn Nursery and Head and Neck Surgery at the Balboa Naval Hospital.
Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser Permanente is America’s leading integrated nonprofit health plan. Founded in 1945, it is a group practice prepayment program headquartered in Oakland, CA. Kaiser Permanente began serving San Diego in 1967, and currently provides care for nearly 500,000 members throughout the county. Today it encompasses the nonprofit Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and their subsidiaries, and the for-profit Southern California Permanente Medical Group. Over 6,500 staff and more than 830 physicians care for members at 20 medical facilities and at Kaiser Permanente's San Diego Medical Center. The Medical Center has 392 licensed beds and a 56 bed Emergency Department. Resident rotations include Outpatient Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine.
