Division of Integrated Behavioral Health

What is Integrated Behavioral Health: The Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) team provides behavioral health services to address behavioral health concerns, such as stress reduction, insomnia, anxiety, depression, family and relationship problems, health behavior changes, etc. We collaborate with your primary care provider by sharing notes and relevant information to provide you with the best whole person health care possible.

We offer short term outpatient behavioral health services. Patients are typically treated for a few weeks up to several months, depending on their needs. If you are experiencing severe symptoms, have multiple concerns, or need specialized treatment, it is possible that your behavioral health provider will recommend a different treatment option outside of IBH, as not all concerns can be responsibly treated in our short term, outpatient approach to care.

Conditions we treat:

Depression or “blues”
Stress, anxiety, mood changes, irritability, anger
Family or relationship problems
Life transitions, including mild to moderate adjustment disorder
Tobacco and smoking cessation
High blood pressure
Mild alcohol and substance use
Grief, loss or trauma
Sleep issues
Health behavior changes, medication adherence
Chronic Pain

How to be referred:

  • Must be a UCSD primary care patient
  • Must have IBH available in the same clinic as your PCP
  • Request IBH services within your clinic by contacting your PCP
  • Request to briefly speak with a behavioral health provider during your next PCP visit to discuss if IBH is a good fit for you
  • Insurance authorization and payment options will be provided after referral
